This record probably owes more to the backroom TANGERINE DREAM wannabee subculture than to, say, more progressive electro-rhythmists like AUTECHRE. Broken-spine-serpentine sequences blend with Mystic Eastern twisting Traditional music (which lends a certain Ethnic feel to the percussion). Sudden wholesale direction changes remind me of a 12" by STARTLED INSECTS, and work pretty much in the same way film scores do - swelling music to accompany emotional moments. After some ddl meandering it nods towards THE ORB and, yes, to some of BILL LASWELL's more ethnic workings. ROBBIE SHAKESPEARE-simple-but-effective bassline makes for a nice hybrid of the above mentioned, and hints of ASH RA TEMPEL at their most charming & accessible help bring the sound into a more compulsively danceable area.

Not a long CD (no more than a very short single - just over 20 minutes), but intriguing enough to warrent further investigation. Their sound straddles modern sub-Techno rhythm & an older Electronica - they pay homage well, and do both time-separated genres justice.
