A bit of a missed opportunity with this one. Starts out strong, but then goes kinda off the rails for the second half. While you have gems like "Metrotheme," Pete Rock's "Priceless," and the classic Premo banger "The Actual," the b-side features way too many failed, sometimes weird attempts at club hits/crossover joints. The remix to "Hot Joint" actually works, but the original version is awful. "Get Paid" bites Calloway's "I Wanna Be Rich" for the hook in the most dire way possible, while the straight cover of Kurtis Blow's cornball ballad "Daydreaming" is just bizarre and extremely misguided. You can program a solid little album out of the good, but man, the bad on this is quite bad. Some editing would've done All City really well, but 1998 was such a confused, dark time for a lot of hip-hop acts that it's not really reaching to think that MCA didn't know whether to market them as strictly for the heads or potential commercial superstars. Unfortunately, they wanted to have it both ways, which makes for a pretty jarring disconnect between both sides of the duo.
