Excellent sound of the OJC record, even recorded in 1961. Keep in mind the "Porgy" (my favorite Bill's record) isn't included on this release. Anyway highly recommended if you want valuable record by Bill Evans. I love the sorround in the club while Bill Evans Trio is playing...

I've read on the Steve Hoffman forums that all OJC titles before about OJC-270 are all analog. Not sure if it is true or not, but this title is OJC-210, so potentially all analog.

Freaky Hook

I agree with the others. This pressing sounds incredible. Comes in poly sleeve. $12 on Amazon. Can't be beat at that price.

This is THE benchmark upon which I would measure all live jazz event recordings. Whoever miked up the drums and double bass understood exactly how to capture each element in perfect stereo for the engineers to mix. I have five Bill Evans records and I am utterly spellbound by this recording. The brush work on the opening track 'My Foolish Heart' is literally 3D and the OJC vinyl should be hold the same accolade as MOFI / Analogue Productions etc. Just a side note and playing aside, the 'Live at the Village Vanguard' album, is not as well produced IMO. Here's my top 5... all OJC1. Waltz for Debby - Phenomenal recording, cant beat it! This OJC version is pure gold.2. Moonbeams - no LaFaro, but wonderfully recorded too with similar delicacy to the kit. Bass a little too distant.3. Portrait In Jazz - so interesting, an engaging recording but not as high fidelity... 4. Everyone Digs Bill Evans - fabulous piano work, but bass and drums too set back and with too much room reverb.5. Village Vanguard - my least favourite... maybe I don't have the right copy (?) or I'll 'grow into it'

I've never heard other copies of Waltz for Debby, but I can certainly say that this one, to my ears, sounds PHENOMENAL for the price. Dead silent (even the deadwax!) and very spacious, crisp sound. Very pleased!
