Light out of Fildon

Actually, not every track on this excellent self-released compilation is all that hard-to-find: "Apollo 2" is relatively well-known album, considered to be an "entry-level" ambient classic, the same goes for "Trance Europe Express" series (especially Volume 3). Various compilations and samplers from Touch label are not extremely rare too, and "Money Will Ruin Everything" book is also easily accessible. But at least half of those tracks are taken from almost obscure and little-known limited editions and rare records, that's for sure: like CD-attachments for magazines, charity albums and Norway-only compilations from the 90's, or double vinyl, issued by some Swiss cultural/art foundation and never even available on public sale. As some completists already mentioned in various reviews around the web, they were chasing some of those tracks (at least, in decent quality) literally for years.But what's even more important: yes, they all totally worth it, there's not a single second-rate or dissappointing composition here. I'm not going to describe every single track, since you may easily check "Compilation" for free on bandcamp, just a few highlights: "Hypnophone" is a rare killer for admirers of early, pre-ambient Biosphere, "When I Leave" is a hypnotic, groovy and paranoid ambient-techno mix with a nice cinematic shade. "Superfluid" is awesome, it's a nice, microwave-style ambient, quite hi-tech and futuristic, and one of rare birds too. Speaking of plumed creatures, "Bird-Watching" is just a heartbreaking stunner, this track alone would make the whole release worth it, and it's definitely going to be a true discovery for many-many Geir fans. "Sun-Baked" is a very blissful and mind-blowing experience too, though it's known by many. "Vi Kan Tenka Digitalt, Vi Kan Tala Digitalt" - another highlight, absolutely fantastic, lengthy ambient piece, and surely it's one of those never-heard-before gems.What really makes this "Compilation" different from any fan-made "pack" of rare tracks, b-sides, etc (which are common thing, and you may find plenty on any artist, including Biosphere) is a total complexity and integrity of this album. It combines very different tracks and styles, spanning more than a decade, but still and all it grants you an integral, fulfilled listening experience. So, this is highly recommended not only for die-hard Biosphere fans, but to anyone who likes ambient and who would want to explore various musical directions travelled by Geir Jenssen on his impressive artistic journey. Excellent piece, 10$ for that is just NOTHING, so please go and support the artist directly
