I remember this gig.

A few days from christmas in 2002, on a Saturday morning in a run-down old building in the centre of Bergen, the local record fair opens at 10 am. An hour or two into the event, still early for those of us in the habit of enjoying a few drinks on weekends, and the stage is set for Bömbers. The first live performance at the Vinylmania record fair. And remarkably also the last. Very strange in the reviewers opinion, because let me tell you; there has never been a record fair like this!

The volume is set to 11. Then it’s turned up. After that the volume knob is ripped off and eaten. The floor and the walls are shaking. So are the tables and even the record dealers for that matter. And before i knew it, 4 songs had been played. I hadn’t even gone to the bar yet. Which was a good thing, because there were no bar there. And that was it. Like beeing slapped in the face.

A memorable show. And it must have been HILARIOUS to be passing by on the sidewalk outside, as metal is beeing SHOT out the open windows at around lunchtime, and the whole building is hanging on for dear life. Strolling along to look through old vinyls after that was a somewhat strange experience.

All in all the best record fair I’ve ever attended.
