Calibre + Zero Tolerance - Waterfall / What I Feel FLAC

No comments? I'm amazed! This is a typically incredible 12" from Mr. Martin, here alongside fellow Irish don Zero T, or Zero Tolerance as he was known back then.

'Waterfall' is a peak time glider which builds an atmosphere of tense euphoria, before that bassline smashes in and propels the track, and the listener, into the stratosphere! It's actually uncharacteristically 'twangy' for a Calibre tune, but this quirk is what in my opinion makes the experience (If you disagree however, there is an alternate mix which I believe Zero T played on air at one point and is definitely worth checking out). The vocal is also fantastic. I'm not sure where it was sampled from but it's catchy in the best sense, I love it! All in all a fantastic liquid anthem.

'What I Feel' on the flip is a truly haunting number, balancing out the a side nicely with an exquisite sub, dubbed out piano and trembling string licks. These elements flow through the tune like a bitter wind - I can't help picturing a scene from some gritty noir classic while listening, with Myrrh-ce as its protagonist, deep in emotional turmoil: "If this is what I feel...don't wanna stay don't wanna go...". Despite the eerie vibe, this tune somehow remains inexplicably cosy - like a mug of hot chocolate - in that magical way which only Calibre can execute.

All this makes for quite a gem in the Signature back cat, and a testament to Zero T's abilities (eagerly awaiting another collab between these two!). Highly recommend.
