This is a gorgeous release, and another perfect step in their path.
it's a really interesting evolution:
they went from hardcore/crossover-thrash in the late 80s, to technical-deathmetal/prog-fusion in the early 90s, to proggy alternative rock/soft metal in the mid-90s (as Portal), to prog-metal w/ deathmetal influences in the 00s, to prog-metal w/ world music influences in the 10s.

Even though I miss the vocoder and death growls a lot, this is still perfectly crafted. ...and it fits in line with each release being different.
The Indian influence here fits really well (with Paul's philosophies AND his production style).

"Box Up My Bones" is one of the most powerful, beautiful songs I've ever heard.
(Though "King Of Those Who Know" on their 2nd LP, Traced In Air will always be my favorite, and also possibly the most perfect thing they'll ever do.)

and the outro track here, "Hieroglyph" puts me in a very emotional yet peaceful place.
It really feels like it's overall underlying message or mood is: things are what they are, always and forever, don't fight it, accept it, it'll be o.k.
