The original 1990 version by Glenn Jones, Stay, was just a better song in every way. It was sung in a better key, has a better range, pacing, and overall it just has a slight edge to it. This dance cover by Eternal is too "light" and upbeat. The women singing in unison just don't cut it ... it's like they gave the backup singers the task of singing the whole song, and it just doesn't work for me.

The tone of the West End D'Rhythm Mix, which instrumentally is a great clubby house track, is totally incongruous with the lyrics. Would be nice if there was an instrumental of this mix.

I really wish I could get my hands on the A/C Mix that was released to radio stations in US/Canada in 1994. It was only available on a Promo CD...
