It's all about V-Ger on this release from 1996 and despite being included on DJ Bones awesome Subject Detroit mixed cd from 2000 has still managed to fly under everyone's radar.Techno that still sounds this good 20 years after its initial release really should get more recognition.

V-Ger is glittering techno-soul of the highest order, used to great effect by Dj Bone on his Subject Detroit Vol. 2 mix. In fact this whole ep oozes quality, Detroit and third wave Chicago influence abounds and you should expect similarities with the wicked Peacefrog and Ferox sounds of the time. Not everything that Soma released around this period has timeless qualities, indicated by the lack of collectability/value connected with the label, however this EP, and in particular V-Ger will still be sounding fresh for generations.

Too many releases to be 'cult worthy' I guess., Some releases are top notch, but too much samey pedestrian by-the-numbers tech-house as well.

I've always wondered what it is about 'Soma'. It's a quality label no doubt but people just don't seem to laud them like other labels of similar quality and sound....it's a puzzle.
