Confirmed with Kelley Baker (sound crew of several Van Sant films) that in 1983 Van Sant hand made several copies of the album to pass along to friends:
"I have one of those myself that Gus gave me. I'm not sure how many actually exist. There was a time in the early 80's that Gus had a band (Destroy All Blondes?). I'm not sure if they played anywhere but I remember he and Pat Baum (Neo Boys) talking about it.
This was back in the days when he was playing music and he was painting. He did a painting on the wall of the old Macheesmo Mouse Restaurant on SE Hawthorne cause he knew the owner there. He lived above a Copy Store on the corner of 11th & Jefferson.
Everyone was making cassettes of their bands and their music. I remember him giving me one and I remember listening to it but I don't remember if it was any good. This was 4 or 5 years before Drugstore Cowboy I think."
