Comments to album Jessica Lea Mayfield - Sorry Is Gone
Celace
4.9/5 only reason not a 5/5 is because in my personal opinion the flow of the album would be SOOO much better if she swapped the placement of a few tracks. thats all. shes a gem.

Second album I've checked out by Jessica Lea Mayfield, and once again can't say enough good things about it. Definitely a different feel than "Tell Me", as it takes hold of the Alt-Rock, shoegazey styles a little more, while abandoning some of her indie-folk vibe. Regardless, her signature style is still firmly intact and the album flows just as lovely. As a whole, "Sorry Is Gone" definitely has some dark overtones to it, and it makes me think of what a cross between Kirsty MacColl and Mazzy Star would sound like. Not sure if it's my mind playing tricks on me because she's rocking a Black Metal shirt in the sleeve notes, but on some songs it almost sounds like a lo-fi ambient drone ringing in the background. No better way to express your current mood than to layer some icy, dark tones on top of some angst driven lyrics. Anyway, 'Sorry Is Gone' and 'Offa My Hands' seem to be the singles, as they are what I've been hearing get some airtime, but the album as a whole is worth every bit of your time. I'm not a huge fan of colored or clear vinyl, but the sound quality on this pressing is spot-on, and will not disappoint. My favorite tune is 'Maybe Whatever', and love the lyrics: "You say that the evil I don't know is worse than the evil I do know, but I'd rather not know anyone at all..." My thoughts exactly... Five Stars, Get Up With It!
