Absolutely worth at least one listen. "Galaxy Garden" is about as organic as something digital can get, but boy does this record just feel.. alive! The rhythms and melodies might be a little off-putting at first, but there's a real pull in the sonic landscapes of these pieces, and they grow on you. Just let it happen.

Surprised to learn anyone thought this release was anything short of legendary! I've long been a huge fan of Lone (top of my list of people that I need to see live!), and though his previous releases are all amazing with abounding standout tracks, but Galaxy Garden is his first cohesive long play record to date: as a whole, it communicates a clear image, feeling, emotion, and world. Though many things remain part of Lone's work -- gauzy synth pads, breakbeat rhythms, 4-measure dramatic pauses, and water imagery -- from his first to his current release, this album is by far the most significant. It is an instant classic, something to be regarded one day as a turning point in electronic music. The culmination of sounds present in Galaxy Graden from the decades prior to its release are only exceeded by the number of sounds it will influence in the future.

I dunno? It all sounds the same, just change the beats and sound signature a little bit!! the synths, the bongos and the pads are the same every release, just slightly different.

For some reason this release seems to have polarised opinion in the press, with fans etc. I thought previous Lone material was OK, take it or leave it. But I really like this album as a cohesive set of tracks. Makes me think back to the early 90's when 'people' said that there could be no such thing as a dance album; dance was consumed in single tracks, 12"s and the like. Folks just need time to get used to changes before they can then progress on to liking those changes. So, I like this. But then again, I'm an ex-90's raver Dad who now mostly listens to dance music sitting down at work...
