Mussolini Headkick - Blood On The Flag FLAC

" I could not have said it better than Scrap_Iron, this album is definitely pissed and does not give a fuck. Where the previous album was very varied and the band was still looking for their sound, Blood On The Flag is more unified and strong release. Unfortunately this is not a completely good thing, as many of the songs sound quite similar and easily blend together if you don't pay attention and overall the album is less interesting than the previous one in terms of soundscape. Lyrically the furous and angry venom the singer spits out here definitely is more superior.

In the end it's hard to say which one is the better album from Mussolini Headkick. For serious industrial/ebm fans propably this one, but for a more casual listener the more varied and poppy sound of Themes For Violent Retribution propably works better. Of course the best option is to get both as this band is definitely brilliant and stuff like this is really not made anymore, unfortunately....

"Kabul" was written in 1990, but is the perfect soundtrack for the 2002 American attack: "Bullets fly, civilians die, nobody gives a damn what's wrong or right... What is the price of life in Kabul?". "War Drum" kicks in the ass imperialism and military fanatism: "Gimme a gun, gimme a flag and a uniform... I'll bomb your city, burn your children, I will give you something to remember". And more, listen to "Under The Eye": "I hear you say they're murderes, but what do you know, what do you care?".

But don't expect this CD to be an ancestor of these days anti-USA, anti-Bush pacifist records, for here Islam and muslims get slaps in their faces too. Check "Holy War": "I see your Corans covered in blood... Do you believe the damn whole world is yours? Someone disagrees so you shoot him down, there's no humanity in your violent crowd... We'll find our own gods, leave me out your holy war". And that hollow, dehumanized voice repeating "Islam" in the background.

The music is a powerful and apocalyptic mix of minimal EBM, guitar riffs and shouting, pissed vocals. Mussolini Headkick are the perfect soundtrack for this dark period of history. This is the real voice protesting against both clashing forces, not demonizing neither the USA nor Islam as the only source of evil. No politically correct garbage here!

This band probably chose one of the strongest names possible. The last page of the booklet shows Benito's rotting body hanged on the public square at the end of WWII. Lots of nostalgics in Italy would get really pissed...
