Neonlight - My Galactic Tale FLAC

Without question, Neonlight are some of my favorite techstep producers, blending sci-fi tech with underlying currents of just pure fun. A-side "Triple B" is probably my least favorite out of the 4, sounding similar to a lot of the contemporary Ram releases from Teddy Killerz and Audio. Blaring swing-step bassline punches certainly make it a head-bobber, but just not my cup of tea. "Project Flare" begins with a subtle, trancy airy progression but you know the techy-funk is right around the corner. Half-time breakdown is my favorite part of the track. "The Towering Inferno" starts with a guitar with tons of delay behind it, building up to a glitchy drop that reminds me of their 12" collaboration with Wintermute that also was released on BlackOutNL. I love the filters they put on their snares on "The Towering Inferno", similar to a few cuts off Noisia's Purpose 4x12". But the tastiest morsel is in the D side "Microbots", an aptly named choon that beckons laser-shooting robots invading a metropolitan city. The title and sound correlation harks back to Dom's "Nanobugs" 15 years ago. LaserStep massif!
