Octogen - Gindofask FLAC

Octogen's GINDOFASK continues his blend of techno into his own vision: "Square Bells" still has a foot firmly in Detroit, and "Sphyxomite" steps firmly into Drexciya territory with its deeper bass. But for most of the album (like the standout "Ploughs And Clouds"), the melodies and rhythms remain mostly in the hands of a particular spot in Michigan (one exception would be the more abstract "James," which keeps leans its beats into the grimy side.) So even though there isn't as much style blending as on his first album, what he does have on display (the blippery of "The Emperors Apprentice Pt, 1" and its more aggressive counterpart on "Pt 2," for instance, or the drifting quality on "Saturn Sun") is excellent. "Sunset Over Tao" has that smooth futurism that one associates with Motor City techno, and "Florence" takes the album out on a slower note and some Asian-sounding chords. Solid.
