I have to agree that the master/pressing is not very good. I have a vintage German pressing from another compilation album of his work and all the tracks sound far supieror to this particular release.

I don't agree at all with the previous comment!!! The audio quality on this record is superb! The mix and mastering is excellent and it is definitely not recorded quiet. Seriously, if you think this pressing sounds bad you're an idiot. The previous comment couldn't be more wrong! Sounds like a bad MP3!?! No way in hell! This mono pressing sounds spectacular. The sound is super full and dynamic, the bass and horns really rumble! This is an excellent pressing. Flat, centered and quiet too. No issues whatsoever just a great sounding Soul reissue! I would totally recommend d you pick up a copy if you can still find it at B&N well worth the $20 spent.

This pressing doesn't sound great imo. Sounds just like a bad mp3 pressing and is very, very quiet. I guess that's what you get with a B&N-commissioned release.

agreed, the mix is weird. The Vocals are buried and one song in particular the guitar is really up front to the point it's distracting.
