Comments to album Rave The Reqviem - Rave The Reqviem

I really dunno what to do with this release.
At one time I love it because some tracks are really great and the band has a own sound.
And then in the next time I hate it simply because of the mixture of Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Industrial and whatnot.
Who the hell had even the idea to mix all this? I am personally not that much of a fan of Dubstep. Also the whole album is kind of repetitive. I agree a lot on the review of Maestrinho and I guess my goes into a similar direction.
I like the Mother, Son combination though. Never heard of something like this before.
The singing is alright but I feel like it has too much autotune? Why the hell does a Opera singer need autotune? Because of this autotune it sounds like a 20 year old is singing. Is that the sense in it? Meh... Fair enough I enjoy them more than Sirus, probably because Sirus uses mainly Dubstep while Rave The Reqviem uses it as a undertone.

In the end I don't know whether I should love or hate this band. Really...
Definitely not bad but I guess it is just not my taste...

Heavy laden with guitars, distorted, growling male vocals are supplanted by female song above a dubstep bass drop... I would never consider putting one of these tunes on myself, but then again it really belongs to a totally different genre than what I listen to. You could argue that it's accordingly up to a different target demographic to compare and be the judge of its relative merits, but as Rave-the-Reqviem are playing at an event I regularly attend, I'm surely entitled to have an opinion on their music, with the caveat that all grades are in the end reflecting personal taste. Moreover, as those more open minded to guitars and hiphop rhythms would only be too happy to assert in other arguments where they happen to love some novelty stuff (but really can't provide a good explanation as to why), music creation should not be restricted by arbitrarily defined genres or the listening experience thereof based on preconceptions. So, right back at them, I'd guess, even noobs like I may now be on equal footing with the self-aclaimed experts from within whatever allegedly nonexistent industrial sub genre where this music would have been appreciated for what it is... Anyway, I hate this. And if you love and hate similar things that I do, you'd probably do well to spare your ears this Frankenstein concoction of disparate influences.
