'Past Fragments of Distant Confrontation' was originally created as an orchestral work. [...] The world premiere took place at Tectonics, Glasgow, 2014 where the piece was performed by the BBC SSO under the direction of Ilan Volkov.

For this DIY Version I have taken the original 10 track electric violin recordings from which the string score was assembled as my starting point. The viola parts are recreated using samples triggered by midi derived from the orchestral score. The orchestral percussion is replaced by a drum machine [...]. It was recorded at Mayhem in Copenhagen in front of an audience who you will hear applauding at the end. Thanks to Nicolas Kauffmann for operating the cassette deck that captured the performance. The filtered white noise was overdubbed by Andrew Paine. The brass parts have been replaced by my multi-tracked voice.
