I assume that the price of this record reflects the magic experienced by those that know these tracks well.

The MDRL EP is the quintessential Fachwerk release stuck somewhere between Dehnert and Fachwerk's initial experimentation with an industrial aesthetic (very much within Fachwerk's wooden framework), the dubby chords which drench huge techno tracks like Umlaut 1 and the current housier phase which is hinted at by Lindau's bouncy contribution to this EP.

As much as I love each part of this EP, Umlaut 1 is one of those rare tracks that stunned me into submission when I first heard it. The thundering chords suck you into the depths of some unknown ocean, while the thumping drum kicks act as a pulse beating to bring you back to consciousness, reviving your senses enough to enjoy the experience. It is Mike Dehnert at his masterful best.
