This pressing is decent, though I prefer the CD. It just isn't as lively or as enjoyable. That's a bit disappointing considering how good the Moving Pictures 200 gram re-issue sounds.

I'm really glad they repressed this album, it's probably my favourite Rush album. But I do wish they made it a gatefold.

Hbr

This remaster is much more well rounded and pleasent than Sean McGees earlier 2112 and Farwell to Kings. Good control over the harsh passages and some actual bass for the reverb here. The vinyl is somehow also more crackle free on this one for some reason, and yes I cleaned them all. Bil

The pressing is pretty good, flat, quiet, seemingly well mastered, but I find it something of a curiosity. 200g, 2X LPs, with the 4th side etched. Fair enough. But the music crowds the label on all three sides with modulated grooves. Doesn’t make sense. Why not have music on all four sides and open it up a bit? Give the pressing a bit more dynamism. The music is certainly worthy of it, and the pressing would be that much better. Not sure what the explanation for all this might be.

It would have been cool if they were able to make it 45 RPM, but I don't know if that would have worked on 2 LPs.

Mildorah

Incorrect. A side of vinyl, after around 23 minutes becomes compromised in terms of bass, clarity, and loudness. This should have been spread out onto all 4 sides. If you cannot hear the difference between and LP and a 12" single, I don't know what to tell you.

Zamo

I take the opposite viewpoint and wish they had kept it as a single album. Getting up to turn the record over every 5 minutes is a nuisance, and no matter how many tracks are on a side I can't hear any improvement or loss. I'm not convinced that space between grooves makes any discernible difference.
