Notes
Mixtape released by Zulu Nation and Native Tongues affiliate DJ S.T.R.E.S.S. under the pseudonym of SAMO.
The name change was in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the death of the painter Jean-Michel Basquiat, who painted graffiti under the alias of SAMO. The mixtape itself was released in 1998 on August 12th, the precise date of Basquiat's death.
The cover art was done by Bronx-based graffiti artists TATS CRU.
The mixtape includes a bonus track, an early appearance of Tricky's infamous song "Divine Comedy", a vitriolic indictment of Polygram executive Eric Kronfeld, who had then recently made racist comments.
