Simones comes across to me as an American Bevis Frond, or sometimes akin to fellow American Nick Riff. It's that Syd Barrett and Jimi Hendrix inspiration, all done by a dedicated soloist multi-tracking as much as he can. The mixture of wispy and druggy atmospheres, playful songs and instrumentals often tend to sound more 1969 than 1999. And I guess that was the intention.
