Written and recorded over one cold weekend in October 2012 in an old farmhouse in Upper Peninsula Michigan, Slow Royals' first release began as an album of songs written by Tom Blackwell for his solo project alias Thompson Blackburn. After collaboratively jamming, producing and recording the songs over the course of the weekend, the solo project destination was scrapped and Slow Royals was born.

Coming together in an intimate and often claustrophobic setting, the songs had an isolated, fire-side feeling to them. Built into the fabric each of the tracks you'll hear the crackling fireplace, guitar feedback bouncing off wooden walls, and the give of the floorboards underneath our feet.
