Silent servant opened up his DJ set with the title track off this EP at one of the early Nuit Noir nights put on by Mount Analog. Though his entire set was great, Panther Moderns haunted me for days after as I really loved how the opening moments of the song really set the tone for the evening. The horn-like synths sound almost apocalyptic before the kick drum comes in and sends the song towards a dance-floor trajectory. The other two songs are more suited for bedroom listening as Beyond Tyken's Rift has a 5/8 melody that is backed by a kick drum that makes it feel less off-kilter. Ancient Shorelines I. is destined for the headphones for years to come with its enchanting layers of synths. The song has a very natural sounding and rhythmic echo that evolves with each new element that is introduced before it leaves you in an ocean of synths once the kick drum stops. This is a very short, sweet and easily obtainable EP that is a must-have in the large and quickly growing LIES canon.
