Don't Scandalize Mine features musical elements sampled from Once In A Lifetime by Talking Heads and a repeated "you could get a smack for this" vocal from I Ain't No Joke by Eric B & Rakim.

This absolutely is a bootleg! Coslit Records did NOT release this record, and in late 1988 "Don't Scandalize Mine" was big in the clubs. Some bootlegger decided to repress the record with the "Bonus" track which is really just "Once In A Lifetime" by The Talking Heads. This made it easier to mix both tracks when they were both on the same record. Back then you either bought the original Talking Heads album or you used the 7", neither of which an average DJ wanted to do, so this was actually a clever DJ tool at that time.

I bought this on release and remember selling a lot of copies, it was very quickly picked up by Next Plateau, and then Champion.Coslit was the original label for sure, without a doubt.

Hi MentallyMad, I have an original 1988 release on Next Plateau. On the label it says 'A Coslit Records Release'. Why would it acknowledge Coslit if it's a bootleg? I'm sure it is a bootleg like you say but I find it strange it says this on my version. Any explanation would be helpful. Cheers, Levi.

The Bonus Track listed is in fact the main sample for "Don't Scandalize Mine", Once In A Lifetime by Talking Heads. At least it is on my copy! I always thought my pressing was an unofficial/bootleg, though...

Mate, thanx for replying.I have a version of this with Ready to Penetrate. But above there is a bonus track listed with no name. The version I have doesn't have the bonus track. I'm wondering what the bonus track is.

Ready To Penetrate is indeed a different unique track. It's slower than Don't Scandalize Mine and starts with the horns from Kool & The Gang's Spirit Of The Boogie and has the beats from Malcolm McLaren/World's Famous Supreme Team's track World's Famous. Two great tracks, don't know why Sugar Bear never done anything else...
