Strangely enough there are two different label numbers on this one:

Side 1 has the original SHVL 765 and ℗ 1970. Side 2 has SHSP 4041(which is the number of the The Madcap Laughs / Barrett compilation) and ℗ 1969.

Specific to this release and not found in this combination on subsequent releases are:

Released in a laminated gatefold sleeve with the disc housed in the rear opening and the front opening is glued shut with no inner flap.

1. Green/yellow Harvest label with boxed 'EMI' logo and 'EMI Records Ltd.' at 11 o'clock on the outer rim.

2. 'SYD BARRETT' appears above the 'HARVEST' logo at 9 o'clock in one line. Later pressings have 'SYD BARRETT' in two lines.

3. Side 2 label has credits 'Barrett Except Item 2 Barrett – Joyce'. Later pressings have 'Barrett + Joyce'.

4. On each label side there is a gap between 'Lupus Music Ltd' and 'Produced by...'

On the sleeve tracks B4 to B6 have a combined running time of 7:59.
The backcover states printing date 6911 (November 1969).

Matrix numbers seem to be the same as on the first pressings.This CD is part of the "mini LP" series where everything has been faithfully reproduced to mimic the original LP release, but in a CD format. For 'The Madcap Laughs' this includes: the gatefold album cover on the original paper stock with pasted inner gatefold artwork. The CD artwork is a replica of the original Harvest Records release. Also included is an OBI as well as an English/Japanese paper insert that contains lyrics and release information.

The inner sleeve contains a CD style insert which would clearly have not been part of the original LP release. There is also paper insert in both Japanese and English which has some of the insert information of the original, such as the breakfast tips, as well as lyrics in both languages. The CD itself comes in a anti static "vinyl" pouch.

Originally released in 1970 on Harvest Records, release number SHVL 765.This one is the version made by ims Manufacturing.
