Born in Angra dos Reis, and raised in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro (BR), Frankão has been intertwining with Porto’s local music scene for almost a decade. While fragmenting his presence and rhythmic contribution in such projects like HHY & The Macumbas, where he operates hybridisations between percussion and electronics, or Samba Sem Fronteiras, a samba circle as true to the core as they come; Frankão has also been exploring and mutating his own cosmology, one made up of clashes between dub, electro, samba, funk carioca and resulting detritus through his solo project O Gringo Sou EU.

Se Liga na Pista EP is precisely the first outcome of a collective effort from the newly formed T E R R O R label to mash Brazilian funk with european electronics, thus the pivotal importance of Frankão both as a MC and as the builder of the intricate sonic network that surrounds O Gringo Sou EU for the construction of this dialogue.

Curiously enough, the discussion on the possibility of exploring a noisier, heavier, low–end strand of funk arose on the day of the first round of Brazil’s 2018 Presidential Election. A demo version of Se Liga na Pista was released on-line, in a rather sketchy fashion, two weeks later, the day before the second round of the election took place. It is now re-released in its definitive form as part of a four tracker that sets the editorial tone for T E R R O R.
