The Church Of Gary Busey - Dominant Male FLAC

The 'A' side takes it's time to build up, experimenting with a bike repair shop full of strange effects, all set around a fairly straight-forward drum beat 'n rhythm, sounding as if it had been picked out of the mists of time (when people like THE NORMAL and THOMAS LEER were pushing the boundaries of Pop Electronica). It's an eventful journey, full of interesting nuggets of noise, not all of which have been born of the safety of preset-dom. Indeed, many of the sounds have an 'environmental' feel - a less controllable, less predictable and very slightly more dangerous place to hail from.

The 'B' side follows a similar idea, although the core rhythm is a hell of a lot more complicated. Reminds me of the more blasted and wrecked mix of NIN's "Closer" which was used on the "7" opening titles. THE CHURCH OF GARY BUSEY do not play a pretty clinical sound - it mostly sounds raw, unhoned and somewhat live, which is kinda nice - music with an electronic core tends to be 'safe' and pristine in it's purity. Do not expect easy listening - this has a red raw angry sound, big, brutal and hard.

Nice to see someone out there is keeping the spirit of live music glowing. R n B, Rock, Punk, all sound so much better in performance rather than in the clinical environment of the studio. TCOGB have captured that raw vitality in a music most would regard incapable of being tough.

Cover, with it's nudity and S&M theme may mean it doesn't get sold off W.H.SMITH's shelves. Which, maybe, is the reason they did it!
