There sure exists two versions of the Summit LP.

1. The first version of it seems to have appeared in around 1970 already (I've never got a copy of this one).

2. Plus there also exits one GREAT sounding straight bootleg version of the Summit LP (on thick vinyl, and with plastic innersleeve) that hails from the very early 1980's, and which should rate as the first Masters Apprentices bootleg LP ever made.

I've used to have 2 or 3 copies of the Summit bootleg LP from the early 80s available (for some local friends) back then. There were 500 copies of the first Summit bootleg LP version from the early '80s initially made. It used to be available from all the better international sellers (shops like Midnight Records, or Funhouse Records, etc.).

The Summit bootleg LP from the early '80s came out at around the same time as the two Litter (Warick & Hexagon) bootleg LPs (very early '80s), and could have been made by the same bootlegger. They both came with a great soundquality, and with fairly thin LP sleeves.

I believe that this Master's Apprentices Summit bootleg LP from the early '80s could easily get mistaken as an original pressing by an outsider that has never seen the original LP. This Summit bootleg LP from the early '80s usually get's listed as a rare original LP from 1970 on some internet auctions by various sellers, so you better watch out!

It's possible to identify the bootleg: The material, as well as the matrix-number, and the cutting of bootleg LP's usually don't match.

The original 1970 Summit LP came with a glossy front cover, while the bootleg LP from the early '80s was only issued with a plain LP sleeve....

The Summit bootleg LP could have been of European orign (Germany, or UK, I suppose!)

The original Summit LP from 1970 has only ever been available in Australia, and is strictly impossible to find on the European market. It's mostly some people from Europe, or USA that are offering the Summit bootleg LP for sale.
