Comments to album The Pointer Sisters - Love In Them There Hills
Wat!?
Written by Anita and Bonnie Pointer (and one of the last releases Bonnie would sing on with the other three before launching her own solo career,) "Fairytale" paved the way for the Sisters to become the first black females to ever perform at the country music mecca known as the Grand Ole' Opry House... and they had been invited by the management to boot - something practically unheard of for non-country artists. They received such an incredible reception by the unexpecting "Oprygoers" that the Sisters' little excursion into country resulted in the song going top 10 on the country charts and top 15 on the pop charts in America.

The icing on the cake for the quartet came the following year when they ended up snatching the 1975 Grammy for Best Country Performance by a Group or Duo for "Fairytale" --- a first in Grammy history and ironically the first Grammy the Sisters ever won --- long before their trademark pop-funk sound of "Break Out" and "Contact" nearly a decade later.
