Thurston Moore - Rock N Roll Consciousness FLAC

I would have preferred it to be named "Thurston Moore Band" instead of just "Thurston Moore" because they are more of a full rock band than a solo project. The cover is also quite egosyntonic since only Thurston's face appears. Leaving aside that, this is a great album. The group has evolved since "The Best Day" and every member is essential to the band's sound. James Sedwards outstanding guitar solos here have more space to shine but they blend well with the overall warm noisy sound and don't alter the mood of the music. Shelley and Googe are an excellent match, how they blend is pure magic. "Exalted" and "Turn on" are both very long songs in which the band slowly develops a soundscape and once it is reached shifts to a new musical idea. There's a lot of contrast between soft and loud. Emphasis is placed on the very essence of sound and the lyrics confirm both are odes to rock music. "Cusp" is the loveliest track on the album. The rushed rhythm combined with the guitar textures are pure bliss. The last tracks are both singles. "Smoke of Dreams" is more of a laid back song that talks about NYC, overall a very nice song. "Aphrodite" is a great closer, the ending section is outstanding. I really like the bonus tracks which where included only in the japanese CD edition ("Cease Fire" and "Mx Liberity") although I think it was a right decision to exclude them from the official edition because they don't match well with the overall atmosphere of the album. Surely they are great live songs. About the pressing, the sound is excellent, really good.

Today I saw the info that the japanese edition has two extra tracks... anyone knew this? this is the track list:01 – Exalted02 – Cusp03 – Turn On04 – Smoke Of Dreams05 – Aphrodite06 – Cease Fire07 – Mx Liberty

There are 2 bonus tracks on the Japanese version, "Cease Fire" and "Mx. Liberty", a version no one on here has posted yet. If it's worth it to you to get the album, these 2 songs are worth getting the Japanese release for sure. I got mine here: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/HSU-10122

I've got the copy from amazon.de too (preorder) but this one has not included signed print. so I assume the exclusive copies are those signed ones

Pre-ordered copies at select record stores (such as Resident in Brighton UK) came with a signed 12"x12" print.

many thanks for the link. seems there are two LP versions. single LP including CD, the 2LP seems to be limited. however no info regarding the amount. I ordered the 2LP from amazon - that's why 1000 copies are surprising to me.
