Rachel Sweet's "Truckstop Queen" is one of my favorites of all time. Jane Aire & The Belvederes are great too. The women's contributions to the N. Ohio late '70s scene are definitely shortchanged. My copy getting a little beat, but the scratch and sniff cover still reeks.

Oh yes... if you grew up in Ohio in the 70s (and 80s) this is the compilation for you. If you scratched the tire on the cover with your fingernail it smelled of burnt rubber (no kidding!). My copy went with a girlfriend years ago (sob)... or maybe my brother (an old punk's brain gets fuzzy after twenty years). ANYWAY - most everything is worth listening to on this LP: most importantly Chi Pig, Rachel Sweet, The Waitresses, and Tin Heuy. A choice LP full of Akron's least known (except for Sweet and - ugh- The Rubber City Rebels) punk and "new wave" bands. Yes, there were other folks than DEVO that came out of The Rubber City. A much desired LP by any rock fan!
