Of course I found my way to this outing by way of the Luna cover for the Paula Abdul number “Straight Up.” Luna are famous for making cover material their own, and this is no exception, riding right up there with their versions of “Neon Light” from Kraftwork, “Waiting On A Friend” by The Rolling Stones, or even “Rollercoaster” by the 13th Floor Elevators, where these and others have all been so Lunafied that you’ll swear they were penned by Dean or one of the other members.

The remaining material is good, don’t get me wrong, though methinks that the rest don’t hold a candle to Luna’s take for the reason that Luna have placed a cover version on nearly every album they’ve released, meaning they’re familiar with the process, and aren’t just walking their way though a song because they happen to like it and want to lay down their own version, which is pretty much what the rest of this cast do … though, I’m more than sure that I’m being a bit prejudice.

Regardless, there are enough players on this collection that I’m sure an artist you love and admire is also represented here, so dive in, it’s a worthy take on cover material drawn from the last 40 years of popular music.
