Comments to album Various - In The Mix 90s Hits

In my opinion, this is one of the better albums out there. It was a megamix of the great hits from the early 90's right through until 1996, when the album was released. It was similar to another album titled 'The Best Mix... Ever!' which was another early mixed album of the greats we've already heard. The first disc is fantastic. The entire CD is mixed very well though and the songs I enjoyed were Bobby Brown's Two Can Play That Game (K Klass Mix), Robin S's Show Me Love (Stonebridge Club Mix) despite being overused, Basshead's Is There Anybody Out There and Kenny 'Dope'* presents The Bucketheads's The Bomb. It does feature a vast variety of memorable tunes throughout, and the mixing is consistently unbeatable. It especially picks up with The Goodmen's Give It Up, Latin Thing's Latin Thing and Strike's U Sure Do.The second is very good, and I mean it. The mixing is still just as good as the first, but we have many good hits here. These are Hed Boys's Girls And Boys (Dancing Divaz Mix), U2's Even Better Than The Real Thing (Perfecto Mix), Bizarre Inc's Playing With Knifes, Tin Tin Out featuring Espiritu's Always Something There To Remind Me (Tooley Street Mix) which is the best inclusion for this album, JX's Son Of A Gun, U.C.C's The Key, The Secret (Dancing Divaz Club Mix), Motiv 8's Rockin' For Myself, Pulp's Disco 2000 (Motiv 8 Discord Mix), Baby D's Let Me Be Your Fantasy (Dancing Divaz Club Mix) and The Grid's Swamp Thing. It is pretty much the perfect CD, so I highly recommend it.Overall, this album is very good and memorable and doesn't only feature the known commercial hits, but memorable ones that you may not hear so much of today as well.

A really great selection of mid 90s dance tracks. I think they tried to keep it on the 'mature' side of commercial dance, whilst not dipping far into the more underground stuff from the time. I'm going through the albums in order listening to them one by one to refresh myself on them and this one always stood out as one of the better ones of the early series. Mostly because there weren't many filler tracks, so its kept interesting for most of each cd. There are a couple of duds and wierd remix choices but they are very few and far between. Perhaps if the mix had been done toward the end of 96 they could have ditched some of the weaker tracks and included some dance monsters, like Ace of Bases - Beautiful Life, or Kelly Lorenna - Brighter Day. Come to think of it '90s hits' would have really given them the option to really spread out over the years, but they did tend to stick to 95/early 96 which is a bit of a shame, missed a trick there with such a huge catalogue of dance music they already had to work with. Perhaps much of it came down to licencing issues. I dunno.Still. That aside both CDs are very strong, well mixed (goes without saying for a Charlie Brook/Simon Walsh Mix). It's a strong 3.5star, maybe even a 4 star. I'm gonna stick it on 3, but I might up it to a 4 after I've listened to the others. My own rating system:(359 out of 500)

Love this one, both CDs are great and most of the songs are great. The few duds are all on CD1 near the middle but it’s great listening. CD2 is my favourite of the two.
