The live recordings on this Playback EP is taken from the promotional Columbia double LP (A2S 33) also released in 1972. The Playback series of 7" EP's were available to the public, unlike the full album. Times listed on the label are for "total side" of the record. Unlike the promotional album where they're credited as "The Kenny Loggins Band With Jim Messina", they're listed here as "Kenny Loggins With Jim Messina"."Playback" was a marketing concept used by Columbia Records in the early-to-mid 1970s. Recent, newly-released, and/or unreleased songs were sent to listeners via subscription. Subscribers were asked to return a card rating the songs. Tracks were sometimes edited, as was the case with "I'd Love To Change The World" from this release..
