The tracklist itself is so-so IMHO (that Paula Abdul track sticks out like a sore thumb), but in my 20+ years of collecting CD compilations this has got to be the best non-box set comp I've ever seen in terms of sheer value for money when it comes to packaging and liner notes.First there's the cover itself - it was the first time I'd ever seen one of those "2 stage" animated covers (not sure the official name for this type of thing, i.e. where the front plastic has tiny grooves, you hold the disc case & tilt it to the light back & forth & it shows 2 different photos on the same surface). Anyways, the result has RuPaul "dancing" back & forth, and different sets of text showing & hiding. Very cool.Then there's the liner notes. Aside from being pleasant & colorful all around, there's a nice little write-up by RuPaul regarding the purpose & meaning of the compilation, along with some notes alongside each track stating why each one was chosen.Further on, there's some nice photography (in black & white, but still nice nonetheless) of many of the artists featured on the disc, as well as very detailed credits for each track - including where & how high they charted upon their release.Finally, the AIDS awareness banner is a nice thoughtful touch.I used to get so disappointed at the lack of good liner notes in most compilations I would buy, so to say this was a pleasant surprise was an understatement. Shows that lots of effort went into putting this package together.
