Well I don't have it yet, but I'm told the recent Bow Wow Wow set is nice. Their Cranes reissues were all nicely done. Once the original problem with the Creation box was fixed, it was all good. I can't recall issues with Nick Heyward reissues. The Haircut 100 debut reissue also seemed excellent. I know there's more.

hatfulofelt Cherry Red often bungles their reissues, but not always. Sometimes they are stellar. It's super hit or miss, so be careful and do research first. Not all Cherry Red product is poorly done by a long shot. What reissues do you think they did well?

Cherry Red is not a reputable reissue label. They are not concerned with the quality of the product. Last reissue I bought from them was the vinyl repress of Teenage Filmstars - Star, and it was a waste of money. Muddy, muffled sound, and short gaps of silence inserted between songs that were originally crossfaded...like you're listening to mp3s on your phone. The only thing they're good at is licensing music they know will sell. A reissue on Cherry Red is a waste of your money, unless you just don't care about sound quality.

This concerned me when I read it, so I did some asking around, the problem with reissues of indie labels material is that masters were often discarded as no one foresaw the boom in reissues, in some cases a lossy source from a late 90s transfer may be all that exists, however if the affected tracks are available on other cds in lossless quality then this is another matter entirely.I have emailed cherry red on this matter and will share any relevant responses
