Dachise - Twin Braids FLAC

DACHISE somehow manage to bang a wedge between the Japanese school of Raw Noise and a more Avant Garde, tape - manipulation sound. So while there are moments here when, at a decent volume, you feel they are going to knock the house down around your ears, it makes for a much more interesting experience. Whereas the Japanese approach is to simply blast you away, DACHISE have a much more effective way of assaulting your aural nervous system - they lull you with warmth, beats and hypnotic tape loops, then fire detonating bursts at you when you least expect it.

Comparatively subtle, this makes for a much more effective, and no less unrelenting form of music. They definitely follow tempo, and even build structures, but don't expect to dance to this, unless you're spending time at the far side of abnormality.

Sometimes you can discern the source sounds - there's a strong element of overdriven, fuzz'd guitar here, and a wealth of feedback. But overall the sound sources are fed through electronic processors to create a furious churning sound.

But then it's not all noise - there are a lot of stolen sounds - choirs and various old recordings, all of which are carefully crafted into the war zone of sound.

There's what could almost be a cover version of a track from TG's "Second Annual Report" - namely the version of "Maggot Death" with GENESIS mocking 'Deadheads'. Which might go some little way to showing you just how subtle this group can be!

As with the die-hard sonic terrorists, this group's sound can pin you to the wall. Unlike many in this field, DACHISE have discovered that less can actually be more. I'm sure psychologists would put a name to it - where irregular shocks can be more effective than constant ones.

But, if you like Noise with a capital 'N', then this album might be a refreshing change for you.
