This album is very much a let down for me personally. The mixing is mostly average with short transitions that feel lackluster such as fade-in and fade-out between songs or just mixing that you know you have heard better elsewhere. I am also not a fan of albums where one CD consists fully of trance and the other of cheesy house music. My reasoning behind this is consistency, as I would rather have both CD's start out with house music and slowly progress into trance, or like what this album did but still have the non-trance CD move into some trance near the end and have the other containing full trance.

The first CD is just underwhelming from start to finish. The mixing is OK, but nothing really good and I only enjoyed a few songs, while the rest were just ones I have never heard and for good reason. That being said, I did enjoy Eclipse's Makes Me Love You (Morning Star Mix), Basement Jaxx' Red Alert (but you can hear this better elsewhere anyway), The Wise Guys' Oh La La, Phats & Small Turn Around and that is pretty much it. So, did not like it in the slightest really.

The second contains the type of music that I love to bits, but again, most of it can be heard elsewhere with better mixing and better rearrangement of the tracks. I liked almost every song on this one except for ATB's 9pm (Til I Come) (Sequential One 1999 Remix) which is an overrated and overused track and DJ Jean's The Launch again for the same reason. Everything else is pretty spot on, but the mixing kind of ruins the journey going for it into a mess with fade in, fade out and poor work. You can't beat the likes of The Morrighan, Liquid Child, DJ Sakin & Friends, Mauro Picotto and Blank & Jones but 80% of this CD can be heard in the MUCH BETTER album called 'Trance Mix 99' which Triquatra mentioned in his below review or even 'The Best Trance Anthems... Ever! The John 00 Fleming Mix'. However, it does contain two rather rare gems - The Space Brothers' Legacy and the DJ Taucher Mix of Ayla which I have only seen make appearances on 'A Higher State of... Euphoria' but it was good to see them here as well.

Overall, I do not recommend this experience to anyone. If you're new to it you might enjoy it but after listening to other albums will soon realise how much of a let down this is. I am not saying it is terrible, just lacking in quality.

The tracklisting is pretty spot on for both CDs, but its really let down by the mixing, flow of the entire thing and also, sadly, the audio quality. Every song is 'roughly' in time with the next and the mix seems to happen as quickly as humanly possible, other times when the mix is left to blend for a while it sounds pretty bad as most of the songs don't entirely meld with what came before or after.
Other than the tracklist the only other plus to the album is that they've managed to sort the genres a trifle better. CD1 is mostly house music, CD2 mostly trance. Its a fairly good selection all around but I found CD2 better than CD1.
If you're looking for a good trance album from around this time I would highly recommend Meltdown 2000 or Trance Mix 99. Both in the same vein as CD2, only well mixed and thought out.
My rating system:
(233 out of 500) it's a two star but not because of the music, but because the entire thing feels thrown together without thought; much like most of the previous albums. Being bought out by Universal Music improved the music, but not a whole lot else.
